Prof Wei Pan delivered a keynote speech at the Nexus Forum 2025

The Nexus Forum 2025, co-hosted by PolyU and Cell Press, served as a vital platform for promoting exchange and collaboration in interdisciplinary research and innovation. The Forum, themed “Collaborative Innovation for Smart Sustainable Development”, involved a wide range of discussions on innovative techniques for sustainable cities, industrial and interdisciplinary solutions for sustainability, and carbon neutrality and energy system transformation.

Professor Wei Pan, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Executive Director of CICID, Director of MiCLab and Director of NetZeroLab, HKU, delivered an invited keynote speech entitled “Dialectical system theory for sustainable MiC and infrastructure” at the Nexus Forum on 10 May 2025. Prof Pan first explained the dialectical system theory and how it guides the research on sustainable MiC and infrastructure. He also shared research on the Infrastructure Sustainability Assessment Tool (iSAT) and sustainability performance measurement of MiC building projects. This keynote contributed sophisticated systems theories and approaches regarding the sustainable development of MiC and infrastructure to the discourse of the Forum.
